Filming- Day 2

Day 2 of filming.
Today we set up a black background to fit conventions and we filmed the first scene of our singing.
Our actor wore a black and white checkered dress to fit with the indie style of our video.
We filmed it from many different angles so we can cut and chop to make it look more flowing, and to use more different shots in the video to make it look more professional.
We also took photos of her in the dress to see how it would look for our poster.

Filming- Day 1

Today Me, Jenny and Sophia started our filming.
We wanted to do the filming in order of our music video so we began at the beginning.
The narrative on the field.
We filmed on quite a frosty morning so with the sun out and the frost on the grass, it looked quite good.
We used the following props to go into our video; a easel, a paint bucket, a canvas and a heart shaped ballon- this is all to fit in with our song and lyrics.
We have started to download our footage on the computer and have started to edit it.
Next time we are going to start filming the singing footage, in school and in someone's house.
We're going to film it many times in different angles, so when we go to put it in our video as the final footage we have lots of angles to decide from.

Album Cover.

For our front album cover we have used a picture of an easal which we took from our first location shot.
We have challenged the conventions by not using the artist on the front of the cover.
We didn't use the possible photo's below due to the lightening from outside and when making it into a square for a album cover it didn't look right.

Contact Sheet; Possible Photo's for Album.

Originally we wanted a album cover with the artist on, we were going to follow some of the conventions of our genre by having her outside. However it was sunny that day, and well everyday we tried to take photo's, and the lighting just really didn't work and caused shadows in loads of places.
Below are the pictures we took to try get that picture we we're aiming for, but as you can see the way the sun was it caused shadows on her face and on the ground, so they couldn't be used.

Location shots for second scene.

For our second scene we are going to use a location in someone's house. We were going to do this in a living room however we may now change it so the lighting is better. But we haven't tried it with our actor actually filming yet, so we don't know the outcome of what it will look like. We need to try it first, then decide wether to have it in a house or in front of a simple background, so we can control the lighting more.

Practice scarf animation

This was what we did once we did our feet animation, i'd seen it done in a video once and it looked really cool so we tried it and i think it works quite well, although the camera isnt very still at all times so it is a bit shaky in parts.

Practice feet animation 2

Practice stop motion animation take 2 of shoes, third try at animation. This worked better as we used very small movements every time we took a photo.

Practice feet animation

Our first try at the feet animation, we tried this a few times until we realised we needed to make much smaller feet movement to make it look more smoother.

Narrative and performance scenes

To see how difficult filming narrative to performance scenes were, we analyzed another video in the same genre and screen shotted when another scene came on the video, we then wrote down how many times these certain scenes were repeated.
The video we used was the official video of "Hollywood- By Marina and the Diamonds"

Location shots for opening scene

We went to our chosen location and took some photos of where we would like to film.
We tried to stick to the conventions and stick to our storyboard idea's so we would have more of an idea when we go to film.

Researching other examples

To research other examples we looked at the actual video of Fiest- 1,2,3,4 and we searched on youtube for covers of the song, and looked at other a level examples of the song.
Below is the actual video of the song and a video made from AS students in another school.

Research of genre

This was our post on genre.
It was done on Jenny's blog and we we're sharing a computer.

Our Idea.

We are going to be doing a music video based on the song "1234" by Fiest.
During the song, the lyrics "1,2,3,5,7,8,9 or 10" and "tell me that you love me more" we are going to animiate using stop motion to make it different from other music video's.

- This was a shared post on Jenny's blog about what we are going to do and which sites we will use to help us.

Suspicion.

We made a short film to get used to using the camera and thinking more about camera shots and angles.

This went well as we learnt the fuctions of the video camera and how to keep continuity and to see the best angles.

This short film didnt really have a story to it as we hadnt planned it, but it allowed us to gain more ideas of stories and how to show emotions through different camera angles and panning.

We also learnt about dolly's and also a little bit of the editing software.
We didnt do much in the editing process but it gave us the basic idea of how to use the software.

Review of practical work

From AS I have learnt quite a lot which would help me within the production of A2.
To begin with I was quite worried about doing the coursework for AS as I choose the magazine option and that involved editing with fireworks and taking photos which look professional.
It was all very new and I had no idea what I was doing really. To begin with it was a struggle trying to learn it all and do it in the period of time I had but once I picked up how to use fireworks I found it quite easy when it came to finishing it.
I enjoyed taking the photos for my magazine as it was quite a laugh and an easy thing to do, it was a lot to think about though, with clothing, props and camera angles, you didn't want it to look wrong.
